Vertical Wall Garden Workshop
SATURDAY 19 SEP 2020 | 5:30PM - 7PM
Unit 3 Travers Street (next door to pool shop) 0820
This event is brought to you by Darwin Community Arts and COOLmob's Sustainable House Day 2020.
Graeme Gillespie will share his experience building and growing a vertical garden wall (in photo) at his Brinkin home over the last twenty two months. All of the materials he used were re-purposed including the old pool fencing frame and a few hundred collected 3L milk containers he re-used as pots. He installed irrigation on a timer and considered how to minimise water usage. The wall features a variety of plants including ferns, pitcher plants, sedges, orchids, bromeliads, anything he could get his hands on.
If you have a small courtyard area or an ugly wall that you wish to green and transform, come along and be inspired. In this workshop Graeme will:
- show footage of his home vertical wall garden
- share how he made his garden wall and the lessons he learnt
- brainstorm the different materials and ways you could construct your own garden wall depending upon the materials and space available
- help Darwin Community Arts to start building our own vertical garden wall in our community courtyard garden.
